10.03.06
Pictures with Georges RS/SS 454 Convertible. The coupe' is now finished after a total rebuild of the underneath of the car including the addition of power 4 wheel disk brakes. Now waiting on custom registration plates to arrive.
The decision was made to put some serious HP in the coupe so a suitable 406 was sourced and delivered May 2006. Some of the specs are; solid cam, Knuckle top pistons 10:5.1 comp, Gear drive, 4000 stall, heads ported and polished, 2.02 and 1.6 valves, 5.7 rods.
29.5.06.
406 Engine install begins also a new radiator from Desert Cool Radiators is made. Norm was very helpfull with his knowledge of sbc. 3 core alloy with 75 mm per core spacing with a 16 " thermo and shroud. A mechanical Holley pump was chosen at 130 g/ph this pump requires a regulator. A high stall conv is sourced from Allfast in QLD (which was a dud and lasted 1 week).
7.6.06
Few Snap Shots of the finished change over, better photos to come.
7.10.06
New engineering: Ford 9" round back, 3.7's, 31 spline Mosers, Detroit Locker, replaced single leaf springs with 5 leaf, larger tail shaft (built for strength), Turbo 400 box built with 3000 dominator eliminator converter, EDELBROCK SUPER VICTOR manifold, EDELBROCK 8811 HP water pump, lots of speedflow plumbing & braided line, cross over plumbing for heat reduction, JAZ overflow tank, MSD 6AL was installed to provide correct management of the ignition system, interior is finished finally with the installation of the restored factory console and discreit Autometer digital shift lite tachometer..
13.10.06
Calder Park. Nessecary final testing to ensure all is well, fun night with Peter and Tony from Sprint forming my Pit crew. Two passes with a best ET of 13.43 @ 107 MPH. Traction a real problem, no grip through all first gear and some shuddering. Reaction time poor, target ET of 12.1/12.3 realistic.
18.11.06.
Lauren Milnes wedding @ Arborettum Dorset Road F.T.G and then Wedding and reception at Kellybrook Winery Wonga Park.
Next lot of alterations comming: 750 Vac sec being converted to 750 HP carb with extra metering block so that 4 corner idle can be accomplished whilst improving HP figures, new throttle body which is the HP version better adjustability minus the restrictive choke assembly. Rear springs to be re-calibrated to 3 inches lower. Rear tube traction bars to be fitted. 1 to 1.5 inch machined spacer place between carb and manifold. Remote mount engine oil filter fitted so that an engine oil cooler can be added, oil temp is two high. 2.5/3 inch SS exhaust system fitted with new extractors with 1 7/8 primaries, and 3.5/4 collectors being made. Some minor adjustment of the TH400 shifting. H4 Headlights still need to be fitted and a polished 100 amp internal reg alternator fitted, replacing the 45 amp external reg unit.

First outing with rebuilt motor, a marathon effort for the boys from SPRINT AUTOMOTIVE In Nunawading; Peter started reassembly on the Thursday morning and finally shuting the doors at 11.00 pm and back into it at 5.00 am Friday morning. It did not look good mid Friday pm for a quality finish, however at 12.00 midnight we took it for a test drive and finally closed the bonnet on the work! JOB DONE.
